Traditionally, we produced the stainless steel manway cover hand wheel bar by welding process. Firstly, we cut the stainless steel bar into short bar and then we machine them into suitable bar which dimension must comply with requirements of part drawing. Secondly, we machine the copper thread fitting to insert in the stainless steel sleeve which have been machined in advance and with two welding slot on each side of stainless steel sleeve. Thirdly we used weld tooling to fix bar and sleeve over to weld them well. Finally, we finished this hand wheel bar by polishing. But there are some shortcomings on this process. Firstly, when we weld it, the internal of sleeve will take a deformation so that we machine the thread difficultly.
Secondly we found the surface keep weld mark and not smooth after polishing which affect the entire surface. So we changed overall process into stainless steel casting which is lost wax silica sol investment casting. Like this, the body is overall entire, especially we added some slot on each hand bar so that it looks better and avoid butterfingered when we operated. There are two or three prominent longitudinal bar in the stainless steel casting sleeve so that we can better fix the copper thread fitting in it when insert it. Then, we make the head of stainless steel sleeve to take deformation so that avoid the copper thread fitting taking off. After polishing, we can get a perfect surface of stainless steel manway cover hand wheel bar. More surprising, we save more our cost by this process which get more competitive in market.
